RAINIER BOTANY AND ESOTERICS SERIES

Rainier Botany 1-12 and Rainier Esoterics 1-4 are a series of one-of-a-kind multimedia art pieces that originated from two photos shoots in the sub-alpine meadows up the ascent of Mt. Rainier, and the lush rainforests at the base in the Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington. The pieces in this series are built from enlargements of the transparency film that feature hand-silkscreened geometric designs on the photo prints, displayed in shadow boxes that also feature hand-silkscreened designs on the plexiglass front. Each piece in this series is unique, like a painting, and will not be duplicated or reproduced again. The original films have been cut-up and the designs retired.

The silkscreen designs on the prints and acrylic have symbolic correlations to the mountains and botanical environments depicted in the photographs. The metallic ink used for the geometric designs at times blend seamlessly with the photo print, but at other angles shine and provide a complementary layer of discourse between the elements.
